About Us

You’re Welcome Here

At Sycamore Presbyterian Church, we come together every Sunday not just to worship, but to celebrate the incredible ways God is working in our lives. Inspired by the transformative love of Jesus, we gather to share our love for God and support each other in our spiritual journeys. Our Sunday service at 10:00 am is packed with uplifting prayers, powerful Biblical teaching, incredible music (everything from hymns to worship songs), and timeless rituals like creeds and sacraments. Together, these elements of worship create an experience that empowers us to serve God and our neighbors beyond the church's walls.

Why not plan a visit to join us this Sunday at 10:00 am in person or via our live stream? We're excited to meet you!

See you soon!

-Pastor Ross Reddick

Sycamore Presbyterian Church is a community where all are accepted and loved into a growing life with God.

HISTORY

Sycamore Presbyterian Church was one of the first churches to be established in the Northwest Territory when Rev. Adam Rankin preached the first Associate Reformed sermon in 1794. Rev. Robert Warwick founded the church in 1796, and it was formally organized in 1798 as the Mill Creek Congregation (near Glendale). Denominationally, the church began as Associate Reformed and became United Presbyterian of North America in 1858. Today SPC is part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) located in the heart of one of Cincinnati’s fastest-growing neighborhoods.

A founder and one of SPC’s first two elders was a young surveyor, Jeremiah Morrow, who served as an elder for over fifty years during which time he became a State Senator, member of the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives, and Governor of Ohio (1822-26).

The church derived its present name when it was moved from its original location eastward to a site near Sycamore Creek. In 1848, at its fourth and present location on Mason Road in Symmes Township, a single-room brick structure was built. It served as the primary building for more than 100 years and although it is now part of a much larger structure, it still serves the congregation as a chapel. In 1998 it was renovated in honor of SPC’s 150th anniversary and is registered as "American Presbyterian and Reformed Historical Site, #11.

Beliefs

At the heart of our community are the beliefs that shape and connect us. Our faith is built on foundational truths that guide our daily lives and faith. From the inerrant authority of the Bible to the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, each aspect of our beliefs is vital to understanding who we are and what truth we stand for.

  • We believe in one God, expressed in the three persons of the Trinity:

    God the Father:
God the Father is the creator of heaven and earth, sovereign over all things. In love, He sustains and provides for His creation. As a gracious and merciful Father, He desires a relationship with us and calls us to live as His beloved children.

    Jesus Christ:
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He offers salvation and new life to all who believe. Jesus reveals the heart of God, showing us how to love, serve, and trust in Him.

    Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is God’s presence with us, guiding, comforting, and empowering believers. The Spirit works in our hearts, shaping us into Christ’s image and equipping us for faithful living. Through the Spirit, we experience God’s grace and are drawn into deeper relationship with Him.

  • The Bible is central to the Christian faith. It is the Word of God in written form. By the power of the Holy Spirit, the Scriptures are the unique and authoritative witness to Jesus Christ in the Church.

  • Sin is real, and we believe that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. An awareness of sin, and a need for God’s mercy and forgiveness, is the work of the Spirit in the believer’s life. Through repentance, we turn away from sin and toward God, trusting in His grace to transform and renew us.

  • Baptism and Communion are sacraments, instituted by Jesus during his life, and commended to us by his Word. God claims us in the waters of baptism for His own. God nourishes us for a life of faith in taking the Lord’s Supper.

  • The Church is a gathering of Christians committed to a shared life of discipleship. Each person has something to contribute as we build God’s Kingdom on Earth.
